Beaufort County

Welcome to the Beaufort County Stormwater Utility and Neighbors for Clean Water Initiative.

If you need to report a spill, report a clogged pipe or ditch, or report illegal dumping please call (843) 255-2805 or email wstormwater@bcgov.net. After hours emergencies can call (843) 812-9174.

The Beaufort County Stormwater Department has two functions:

  1. Provide Utility Management services for the un-incorporated areas of the County as well as the Towns of Hilton Head, Bluffton, Port Royal and the City of Beaufort. We create the utility bills sent out annually via the County Tax bill, collect the fees from rate payers, and distribute funds to the Town and City for their respective stormwater departments. Utility Bill questions for ANY area of the County should be directed to the County Business Manager at (843) 255-2804 or wstormwater@bcgov.net
  2. Conduct stormwater infrastructure operations and maintenance within the un-incorporated areas of the County. Capital projects to improve the infrastructure in the un-incorporated areas of the County are part of this function. Exceptions to this include work done to stormwater pipes and ditches along County Roads and properties within the corporate limits of the Towns and City.
We encourage you to learn more about the County's program by visiting the County website at http://www.bcgov.net/departments/Engineering-and-Infrastructure/stormwater-management/http://www.bcgov.net/departments/Engineering-and-Infrastructure/stormwater-management/. At the website, you can get details on the Utility Management Program as well as the County's operations, maintenance, and capital programs.

The Neighbors for Clean Water website contains an abundance of information about stormwater management that is applicable regardless of where you live. We encourage you to tour this website to learn more about how you can help your neighbors to have clean water.
